🤔 Reflection Question
What made the wolves start hunting people during WW1?
Hit reply — I’d love to hear your take.
During World War I, wolves began hunting humans primarily due to extreme starvation caused by the environmental devastation of the Eastern Front. The constant roar of artillery and massive troop movements scared away their natural prey, such as deer and elk, while the harsh Russian winters made survival nearly impossible. At the same time, the presence of unburied casualties on no man's land provided an easy food source, which caused the wolves to lose their natural fear of humans and associate them with food. This desperation, combined with an explosion in the wolf population because local hunters were away at war, eventually led these predators to move from scavenging corpses to actively attacking living, often wounded or isolated, soldiers.
