🤔 Reflection Question
Should Khabib be considered to be a GOAT in the UFC?
Hit reply — I’d love to hear your take.
Khabib Nurmagomedov has a very strong, albeit debated, claim to being a UFC Greatest of All Time (GOAT) due to his perfect 29-0 record, unprecedented dominance (rarely losing a round), and elite grappling. While his peak performance was unmatched, critics argue his relatively short championship reign (3 title defenses) and early retirement place him behind longevity-based GOAT candidates like Jon Jones, Georges St-Pierre, or Anderson Silva. Khabib was rarely in trouble, never bled, and was never knocked down in his UFC career. Retiring 29-0 with 13 consecutive UFC wins, including dominant victories over top contenders like Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier, and Justin Gaethje. Widely considered the best wrestler/grappler in MMA history. Only three successful title defenses are fewer than other top contenders. Retiring at 32 at the top of his game left many wondering what if regarding a longer legacy. While he fought top fighters, some argue his run to the title lacked the depth of former champions.
