🤔 Reflection Question
How to survive the Amazon rainforest?
Hit reply — I’d love to hear your take.
Surviving the Amazon rainforest requires adhering to the rule of threes—prioritizing shelter, water, and fire—while managing extreme moisture and predators. Key actions include building a raised shelter, sourcing clean water via rain or boiling, using a machete for navigation, and avoiding deep, stagnant water. Build a raised platform shelter (lean-to) using branches and palm leaves to stay off the wet ground and protect against insects and snakes. Locate fresh water. Drink from vines, collect rainwater, or boil any stream water to avoid parasites. Avoid stagnant, muddy pools. Create a fire for signaling, purifying water, and keeping insects away. Use a firesteel or lighter to ignite dry, sheltered wood. Use a machete to cut through vines and trails, avoiding direct contact with plants. Keep track of the sun to identify East/West. If lost, create a large SOS message in open areas or use a mirror to signal passing aircraft.
