💬 Quote of the Day
“It wants to melt but it cannot sustain a liquid so it turns straight to gas.”

🤔 Reflection Question
Did you know that dry ice was CO2?

🧠 Insight
'Dry ice is made from solid, frozen carbon dioxide CO2, not water, which is why it doesn't melt into a liquid but instead sublimates turning directly into a gas at about -78.5°C (-109.3°F). It's created by cooling and compressing gaseous CO2 into a liquid, then letting it rapidly expand to form snow-like solid flakes, which are then pressed into blocks or pellets.' And it's made in this process: 'Carbon dioxide gas is collected from industrial processes like fermentation or ammonia production, or from burning organic materials. This gas is purified, then cooled and compressed into liquid CO2. The liquid CO2 is rapidly expanded, causing it to cool dramatically and partially turn into a snow-like solid. This solid CO2 snow is then compressed into the familiar blocks or pellets of dry ice.'
