'J. Harlen Bretz's flood theory proposed that the unique, dry, channeled landscapes of Eastern Washington (the Channeled Scablands) were carved by a single, gigantic, catastrophic flood during the last Ice Age, known as the Spokane Flood, challenging the prevailing gradualist geology of his time. His ideas, initially ridiculed as catastrophism, were later vindicated by evidence of massive glacial outburst floods from Lake Missoula, eventually becoming accepted as scientific fact, earning him high honors.' His theories were called crazy back in the day just because they were different from the other ones that were accepted. Why is that? Why is a man instantly called crazy just because he thinks differently from others? This is seen today also with many scientists that have different perspective and views on the world and the theories of how it could operate, they are called lunatics and are outcast from the mainstream science.
