🧠 Insight

'Yes, most scientists agree Paleoindian hunting, alongside rapid climate change at the end of the Ice Age, was a major factor, possibly the decisive one, in the extinction of North America's megafauna (giant animals like mammoths, mastodons, giant sloths) around 13,000 years ago, though some argue climate was primary or humans only hunted a few species. The debate involves how much humans overhunted vs. how much climate stressed populations, with evidence showing human tools used on megafauna, but also noting some hunted animals survived while others (not clearly hunted) died out, suggesting a complex interplay.' Google says that many of the scientists agree on this theory Overkill, but how were humans back then equipped well enough to kill off every single species of animals in their way of travel? How were they able to do that in a thousand years, meaning they killed EVERY single one of them causing them to be unable to reproduce in those years? I'd say that the change in climate played a much bigger role in that and humans helped it.
