'Göbekli Tepe was buried for complex reasons, with early theories suggesting deliberate ritualistic burial for preservation or de-sanctification after its use ended, but current understanding leans more towards natural processes like landslides and erosion filling the site over time, alongside intentional backfilling of older, lower structures as new ones were built above, effectively creating a building graveyard for a site that eventually became obsolete.' This answer is interesting, but apparently they ruled out the natural causes for the burial as everything there was evenly buried which automatically rules out the natural causes like landslides, since they wouldn't bury everything equally. So I'd like to think that the people before who built those structures went through an event that destroyed something they built. By that event they learned to protect their buildings by burying them with dirt.
