💬 Quote of the Day
“I think we can live our lives by the things that animals show us”
— Forrest Galante
🤔 Reflection Question
Does every predator actually first choose liver over everything in their catch?
Hit reply — I’d love to hear your take.
While many predators do target the liver first due to its extreme nutrient density and high concentration of vitamins and iron, it is not a universal law for every species. Large carnivores like lions, wolves, and orcas often prioritize the liver and internal organs as a survival strategy to get the most bang for their buck before competitors arrive, but others may start elsewhere depending on the circumstances. For instance, tigers often begin with the protein-rich rump, bears may focus solely on the skin or brains when prey is plentiful, and smaller predators frequently start with the head. Ultimately, while the liver is a highly prized superfood in the animal kingdom, the actual starting point of a meal depends on prey size, hunger levels, and the specific biological needs of the predator.
