🤔 Reflection Question
Are wolves the apex predator number 1?
Hit reply — I’d love to hear your take.
While wolves are top-tier apex predators, they aren't necessarily number 1 because dominance depends on the ecosystem. In many regions, they rule through incredible teamwork and endurance, allowing a pack to take down massive prey like bison or moose that a single predator couldn't handle. However, they are often displaced by larger, more powerful solitary hunters like Siberian tigers or grizzly bears in direct confrontations. While they aren't the strongest or most successful hunters (with only about a 14% success rate), they are considered number 1 in terms of ecological impact, as their presence can physically reshape entire landscapes by controlling herbivore populations.
