Hit reply — I’d love to hear your take.

Healthcare utilization in the United States has shown a steady upward trend in recent years, largely driven by an aging population and a rising prevalence of chronic conditions, which now affect nearly 60% of American adults. Annual physician office visits reached approximately 1.1 billion in 2023, while emergency department visits surged to 155.4 million, representing a significant rebound to or above pre-pandemic levels. This increased demand is reflected in national health spending, which grew by 7.5% in 2023 and is projected to have increased by 7.2% in 2024, reaching a total of $5.3 trillion. Despite these rising numbers, the healthspan-lifespan gap has widened to 12.4 years as of 2024, meaning Americans are living longer but spending more of those years burdened by disease.
