REINDEERS ARE NOT BIG ENOUGH TO CARRY YOU!?

💬 Quote of the Day

🤔 Reflection Question

On average, how much can a reindeer carry?
Hit reply — I’d love to hear your take.

Reindeer are robust pack animals capable of carrying approximately 40 kg (88 lbs) on their backs for extended periods, particularly when traversing mountainous terrain. When used for riding, larger breeds like Finnish or Norwegian reindeer can support riders weighing up to 80–90 kg (180–200 lbs), though it is generally recommended that the combined weight of the rider and gear does not exceed 20% of the animal's total body weight to prevent skeletal stress. Their strength is even more significant when pulling a load on a sled, where a single adult can comfortably draft up to 136 kg (300 lbs) at average speeds of eight miles per hour. In specialized cargo or racing scenarios, they may pull even heavier loads—up to 1.5 times their own body weight—provided they have proper ergonomic harnesses and regular rest intervals to ensure their well-being.
